Does anyone know of a good online support group for spouses of alcoholics?

My boyfriend is the person im going to marry in life, i love him so much, but he has a bad drinking problem. I was wondering if anyone knew any good online support groups for spouses of alcoholics?

www.12stepforums.net. You should really go to face to face meeting for alanon and he should go to the reg. AA meetings. If he won’t go then it would greatly benefit you to understand this disease by going to alanon. Also there are lots of good books at the library on alanon. Hope this helps, you are very smart to want to help him, it will make a big difference in your life together.

    AA has great support groups for spouses of alcoholics. Just phone one in your area and they will talk to you or if you google AA it will have support info.

    Sorry Hon, I was going to suggest here, then I saw you haven’t married him. I have to be honest, I wouldn’t be much support in that area, since I would suggest you NOT marry him. Sorry..

    Al-Anon…well, try it if you want, but in my experience, it is pretty horrific. It isn’t really about helping you deal with an alcoholic, it’s about helping you figure out how sick YOU are and then giving you a spiritual solution for YOUR "disease".

    If you go to http://www.smartrecovery.org/ and join their message board, there is a group for concerned friends and family. They seem quite a bit more sane over there.

    Your best bet, though, honestly, is not to marry this guy. Marriage is hard enough without substance abuse issues.
