A&E Intervention – Laney Pt. 3
Laney is an alcoholic who has lost everything she had dreamed for. She has already been to the Emergency Room numerous times and once to the ICU. Her body is heavily damaged from years of abuse. Desparate for attention from her divorced husband whom she still has feeling for, her days are full of binge drinking for hours at a time. Laney’s family is upset that it has gotten this far. Laney has also openly mentioned suicidal thoughts as well pushing the family for an intervention as soon as possible. Can Laney get help before it’s too late?

ya its stupid. when i was on the fire department an emt saved someones life after we extricated him from a carwreck. after he recovered he sued the emt because he didnt have permission to help.

I’m sorry but am I the only one that thinks its bull that the paramedics don’t help her. They know she has been drinking which impares your judgement. So that means she is not in the right frame of mind to make her own decitions. So they need to take it in to their own hands.

I’m not really sure …
I’m not really sure where this is, but I don’t know of ANY EMS service (public or private) that has such ridiculous “rules.” ALL services have strict guidelines that those with mental impairments or even suspected impairment (alcohol, dementia, drugs, etc.) CANNOT make treatment/transport decisions when their health is in question.
I’m not sure if they were so careful because the cameras were on and didn’t want to “struggle” with her on camera.

This is so funny that the paramedics can’t do anything until she’s unconscious. it! People can die and they don’y fell like they need help but their brain it’s not working proprely. This is a stupid law

Crazy when you recognize drugs on these. I take trazadone (prescribed) to sleep.

people say and do terrible things when they drink that much- things they would never do sober. she doesn’t even remember trying to kill herself- that is so sad.

Once she passes out, they can give her treatment. Besides, all they have to say is that she consented. Who would believe her anyway? She certainly wouldn’t remember.
