Re: I left AA and I Didn’t Die

I found life after leaving AA to be better, not worse. The scare tactics that AA and other 12-step groups use to reatain their members are all lies.

    I realised alot …
I realised alot when I saw, and heard, someone who was normally the holiest of the holy inside those doors on his cell phone talking to his “normal” people. He, and others like him, pretty much used the people there to get cheap labor and for self worship.
I do believe there are alot of people there that are good guys, but those greedy bleeding deacons…
Like I said, it’s a good place to get away for an hour to meditate but I get more relief from working out in a gym.

Why is it that you …
Why is it that you continue to use the word cult to describe AA, when by definition what you anti AA junkies seem to describe is the exact same thing. Trying to coerce people to believe that you are right!
AA has done for many people something they couldnt do, STOP DRINKING!!!!
You guys are all to me drug addicts who use AA as a place to come when NA wont have you because they know what we know, Your all full of crap and self rightous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    The program works …
The program works if you stop drinking so much. People who have worked the Steps hundreds of times over “relapse” all the time. Why? Because they’ve swallowed the Kool-Aid about the “disease” myth, which, once believed, becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. The false myth of a “disease” is a VIRAL MEMETIC INFECTION.

I’ve been clean and sober for 12 years in NA, and only recently have experienced the same epiphany this man describes. He’s right. It’s a cult!

    it’s not a cult per …
it’s not a cult per say. when i stopped going it was because of work issues. no one hounded me. i still call members & call them my friends. i still appreciate the help in those 1st couple of years. i was glad a.a. was there 4 me. i understand what u mean by challenging the program ideology. /a.a. & christianity clashes abit. i found the christian faith & can thank a.a. 4 getting me there. peace

    AA works for ME! …
AA works for ME! Whether it will work for everyone I can’t say. I have stayed sober for 91/2 years and am very happy. Over the years I have seen people leave AA, some return, some don’t. If people have found other ways to stay sober I am happy for them. I have never claimed that AA is the only way to stay sober, AA is the method that works for me. It is a free country, stay sober any way you choose. I won’t criticize you or attempt to change your beliefs. I am content with what I am doing.

    Please visit …
Please visit exposeaa.webs. We are looking for people who have been forced to participate in the 12 step cult by employers and courts. We are also looking for individuals who have been denied an organ transplant for failing to participate in the AA cult. Please tell your story. Together we can change things.

    mojobkk: I’d …
mojobkk: I’d encourage you to look up where that quote “contempt prior to investigation” comes from. It was not coined in reference to investigation of a spiritualist group. In fact AA publishes nothing that’s quantifiable so a comparative investigation between AA and other approaches cannot be made.

Another reason I would not have chosen that quote, which I’m not sure why you used, is this man spent 10 years within the rooms of AA. Now, so what’s wrong with contempt AFTER investigation?

  11. mojobkk Says:

    It is interesting …
It is interesting to listen to a guy who is a contemptuous as he is. Complaining in a theoretical manner about a spiritual program while exhibiting no clear understanding of what AA really does/is, is further proof that contempt prior to true investigation will keep a man in everlasting ignorance.
